Hokuto Musō Original Soundtrack

Original soundtrack of the action game Hokuto Musō, published by Koei on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, released as a double CD on April 21, 2010, priced at 3,200 yen. Its forty track titles are in English; according to the obi, the disc contains the game’s complete music. The last track is an instrumental version of “Ai wo Torimodose!!” arranged for the game.

The booklet closes with a message signed MASA, who explains that he composed the main theme, set the musical direction and played guitar, while the other tracks were handled by the in-house team, which he does not name. Faced with songs like “Ai wo Torimodose!!” and “TOUGH BOY”, he says he chose a very heavy metal approach, avoiding the catchy side as much as possible.

Unsigned track notes describe the role of each piece in the game: the title screen for “Destroyed World”, the briefing for “Lead Time”, the Nanto theme for “Go One’s Way”, the Musō Tōbu mode for “Overpowering”, and the level-clear jingle for “Knock Out”, built around the line “Omae wa mō shinde iru”. The Treasure Box released on the same day as the game contained a separate nine-track disc, all of whose tracks appear here.
