This is arguably the most radical lineup ever produced from Hokuto no Ken, the Violence Vignette, where manufacturer Kaiyodo trades the figure-on-a-base format for genuine little battle scenes, captured in all their brutality.

Dioramas, not figures
Where other gashapon lines simply stand characters in a pose, the Violence Vignette opts for the diorama. Each capsule contains a complete scene, a moment of action ripped from the manga and modeled in relief, roughly six to eight centimeters tall. The approach is committed through and through: the word “DANGER” is splashed across the promotional artwork, and the line pulls no punches when it comes to gore. A rarity in the world of Hokuto no Ken figures, where the story’s graphic violence is so seldom rendered as-is.
The series comprises five vignettes. Two are devoted to Kenshiro, while the other three feature Shin and his Nanto Seiken, Raoh astride Kokuoh trampling a henchman, and Rei unleashing the Nanto Suicho Ken.
A sculptor’s signature
On the original promotional artwork, a name is displayed in full: Enoki Tomohide, from studio eyewater. Kaiyodo was selling the line on the reputation of its sculptor, a regular on the license whose work captures the texture of combat with millimetric precision. Released in 2007 and distributed by Happinet Robin in capsules at three hundred yen, the Violence Vignette remains one of the most singular offerings in the Hokuto no Ken catalog.
Finding them today
Now difficult to find as a complete set, these vignettes resurface individually on Yahoo Auctions, Mercari, and at Suruga-ya. A niche line for fans of dioramas and iconic scenes.
