Hokuto no Ken 7 : Seiken Retsuden – Denshōsha e no Michi (北斗の拳7 聖拳列伝 伝承者への道)
Gameplay
The second and final fighting game in the series, it expands on the formula of the sixth installment, with one-on-one duels between the major figures of the franchise, each equipped with their own unique techniques. The game retains the concept that only a secret technique (ōgi) can deliver the fatal blow to the opponent. The health bar slowly regenerates over time. In story mode, only Kenshiro is playable, while certain characters like Heart remain exclusive to the computer.
Of note
Developed by Shouei System and published by Toei Animation, this title closes out the series of seven Hokuto no Ken games produced by the two companies since 1986. Its reputation is poor, the main complaint being an unreliable control system that makes techniques difficult to execute. It was sold for 9,700 yen. With this game came the end of the Toei adaptation cycle, as subsequent Hokuto no Ken games would be handled by other publishers.
