Here is a curiosity in the history of Hokuto no Ken merchandising: official resin kits produced outside of Japan. In the mid-1990s, the Milan-based model company JJ Models obtained a proper license from Toei and launched its “Hokuto no Ken Series,” two references approximately 15 cm tall, sculpted by J.J. Marco and P. Barbara.

Broadcast under the title Ken il guerriero, the animated series enjoyed phenomenal success there, making Italy Kenshiro’s second homeland. Vol.1 features Kenshiro, while Vol.2 features Raoh, credited as “RAUL” on the box, the iconic Italian romanization of the era that remains a cult reference among Italian fans. The boxes bear the Toei Animation 1994 copyright and mention the license granted to JJ Models, with exclusive distribution from Milan.
