They bear names drawn from the series: the “Shiai no Toki,” its enhanced version, and at the top the “Tenju no Gi.” The “Shiai no Toki” was already the main sequence in the 2010 pachislot, meaning eleven years of naming continuity across both types of machines.

The rivals are ranked in ascending order of value: Liu Feiyan, Mang Kuangyun, Zhang Taiyan, Zhang Lieshan, Yasaka, and Liu Zongwu at the top.

The announcing catchphrase is described by players as the very signature of the series. Its standard form is “Address your grievances to the Yan Wang,” from Kenshiro’s nickname. But in a rare variant, appearing on a Kirin pattern, it becomes “Address your grievances to the Hokuto,” signaling a near-certain win: the machine thus ranks its own references to the series, with the name of the Hokuto carrying more weight than that of the king of the underworld. Another sequence, the chain-smoking sequence, draws on the character’s smoking habit: the more it repeats, the better the odds.
