Boltz
Boltz (ボルツ) is a character exclusive to the Hokuto no Ken 2 anime. A renegade master of Gento Kōken and a loyal servant of Jakoh, he holds the title of Blue Light General of the Imperial Capital. Created specifically for the animated adaptation, Boltz is one of the warriors tasked with bolstering the forces of the Celestial Empire in the episodes dedicated to the Falco arc.
The General of Blue Light
Within the Celestial Empire, Boltz holds an important position among the practitioners of Gento Kōken. His blue aura symbolizes his rank as General of Blue Light, one of the many fighters placed under the direct orders of Jakoh. Unlike Falco, who remains torn between his duty and his morals, Boltz serves the Empire with brutality and without the slightest scruple.
A character created solely for the anime, he partially replaces certain characters absent from the animated version of the manga. His appearance notably allows the introduction of additional Gento Kōken masters in order to flesh out the imperial army around Jakoh.
The murder of Shoki
Boltz plays a major role in the death of Shoki, the General of the Red Light. After Falco attempted to secretly save Shoki by faking his execution, Boltz uncovers the deception by following the convoy transporting the general's fake corpse.
Refusing any betrayal of Jakoh, he then pierces Shoki with his lance while the latter is still inside his burial sack, this time causing his actual death. This act immediately intensifies Kenshiro's hatred toward him and marks one of the darkest moments of the Imperial arc.
The battle against Kenshiro
When the Hokuto Army approaches the Imperial Capital, Boltz openly provokes Kenshiro by setting fire to the resistance's banner from the ramparts. Furious after learning of Shoki's murder, Kenshiro responds by hurling Boltz's own spear an impressive distance, pinning the general against a wall.
Boltz then faces Kenshiro in a duel using the techniques of Gento Kōken, capable of projecting spears and waves of luminous energy. Despite the destructive power of his attacks, he is unable to compete with Hokuto Shinken. Kenshiro ultimately defeats him brutally, sending his body crashing against the gates of the capital in an explosion triggered by his own energy.
Although exclusive to the anime, Boltz remains one of the most memorable secondary adversaries of the imperial arc thanks to his imposing design, his distinctive blue aura, and his role in the death of Shoki.
