Devil Rebirth (デビルリバース) is a gigantic criminal appearing in the first arc of Hokuto no Ken. Sentenced for having massacred 700 people using his martial art only once, he survived thirteen consecutive executions before being locked away for 200 years in the deepest level of Villainy Prison, an underground prison designed for the most dangerous criminals. Master of Rakan Niō Ken, a forbidden 5,000-year-old Indian martial art, he is freed by Jackal in order to kill Kenshiro.
Before his imprisonment, Devil Rebirth practiced Rakan Niō Ken (羅漢仁王拳, "Fist of the Arhat Deva Kings"), an Indian martial art of assassination so brutal that its use alone allowed him to eliminate seven hundred people in a single attack. This destructive power was once so feared that the Emperor of India had forbidden its teaching.
Possessing a gigantic stature roughly four times that of Kenshiro, he survived every execution attempt carried out on him and ended up being locked away in the depths of Villainy Prison, where the most dangerous criminals in the world are left to rot.
After the death of Heart on the outskirts of KING, Jackal sought a new way to eliminate Kenshiro. He decided to go to Villainy Prison, where he had once crossed paths with Devil Rebirth while serving a sentence himself. Knowing the giant's emotional vulnerability and deep attachment to his mother, Jackal showed him a medallion bearing her photograph and convinced him that he was his long-lost brother. Manipulated by this ruse, Devil Rebirth agreed to fight Kenshiro, believing that Kenshiro was responsible for his imprisonment.
The duel pits the giant's brute power against the surgical precision of Hokuto Shinken. Devil Rebirth attacks Kenshiro with astonishing speed for his size, thwarting the successor's first offensive. Kenshiro then activates the Tenryū Kokyū Hō, a secret technique that allows him to unleash the full extent of his power and literally causes the giant's hands to explode, preventing him from using his techniques.
Kenshiro then finishes him off with the Shichishi Seiten (七死星点, "Seven Deadly Star Points"), a technique that strikes seven vital points arranged according to the Big Dipper constellation. Devil Rebirth's body gradually disintegrates, and in his death throes, he desperately grabs onto Jackal, begging him for help, revealing the tragic sincerity of the attachment he felt toward the one he believed to be his brother.
