“You’ve already stuck one on…” Welcome to the wonderful world of marketing in Japan, where the most iconic line from the manga is now used to sell heating patches at the pharmacy… And no, this is not a joke. Announced on May 27 for a July 2026 release, the new Hokuto no Ken Hot Patches featuring artwork of Kenshiro and Raoh will be sold in all Japanese pharmacies and discount stores. And yes, it’s official, no kidding.
A pharmaceutical product licensed under Hokuto no Ken
The concept is as absurd as it is irresistible: Class 3 medical heating patches (the Japanese equivalent of the adhesive patches found in pharmacies) to apply on the skin to relieve lower back pain, neck stiffness, joint pain, and muscle fatigue. But adorned with the stoic portraits of Kenshiro and Raoh.
On the formulation side, the product boasts 1.8 times more heating components than equivalent patches on the market and incorporates 7 active ingredients. Why seven? An obvious reference to Kenshiro’s “seven scars” and the Big Dipper (Hokuto Shichisei, the seven stars of the North). The marketing goes all the way down to the chemical composition.
Slogans worth a double take
The packaging features the iconic lines of both characters with a delightful twist:
- Kenshiro’s side: “You’ve already stuck one on…” (お前はもう貼っている), a direct parody of the famous “You are already dead…” (お前はもう死んでいる).
- Raoh’s side: “Then I shall fight until the stiffness!” (ならばコリとも戦うまで), a twist on the heroic stance of the King of Fists.
The whole thing is officially presented as a product that “evokes the hikō,” those famous secret vital points that allow Kenshiro to kill or heal with a simple press of his finger. Except here, we’re talking about relieving back pain. The crossover between the fictional martial art and pharmaceutical medication is a perfect marketing stroke of genius.
