Sleeping under the Big Dipper, literally! Japanese manufacturer Direct Cars teams up with the anime Hokuto no Ken – Fist of the North Star for an extraordinary vehicle: an ultra-limited edition camper van, unveiled at the Tokyo Camping Car Show 2026 starting July 11.
Seven units, 7,770,000 yen
Named “Seikimatsu Shachūhaku Densetsu,” this special model takes the symbolism of the number 7, the seven stars of Hokuto, to the extreme: production limited to 7 units, priced at 7,770,000 yen including tax (approximately $1,000 USD). The vehicle is built on a brand-new Toyota HiAce Wagon (8th generation), configured with 7 seats and three rows of convertible seating that fold into beds.
A post-apocalyptic interior… and a starry ceiling
The exterior features a massive silhouette true to the post-apocalyptic universe: a bull bar at the front, roof rack, rear ladder, and 16-inch “Kaijin” wheels from the BLUME brand. Inside, leather, steel plate-style materials, and concrete-imitation walls recreate the atmosphere of the devastated wastelands without sacrificing comfort.
The centerpiece is on the ceiling: seven light spots reproducing the Big Dipper, allowing you to fall asleep under the seven stars of Hokuto while lying in your bed. The welcome touchscreen displays a startup animation featuring the Four Brothers of Hokuto, and the headrests are embroidered with the anime’s logo.
An autographed illustration by Tetsuo Hara included
The cherry on top: each vehicle comes with a special panel featuring an illustration drawn and autographed by Tetsuo Hara himself, installed on the rear window. The buyer chooses their character from Kenshiro, Raoh, Toki, and Jagi (the pose, however, is left to the master’s discretion).
A lottery sale until “Hokuto no Ken Day”
The seven units are sold through a lottery drawing. Applications are open from July 11 to September 13, 2026, a highly symbolic date as it is “Hokuto no Ken Day” (the anniversary of the first chapter’s publication). Registrations can be made at the Tokyo Camping Car Show or at Direct Cars dealerships in Suzuka, Atsugi, and Fukuoka, with a deposit required (refunded to non-winners). Results will be announced at the end of September, and the display vehicle will remain on view at the ATSUGI BASE showroom.
