Episode 1 of Hokuto no Ken 2026, titled “A Cry from the Heart” (心の叫び), aired on April 10, 2026 on Prime Video. It is directed by Ogasawara Kazuma with a screenplay by Inukai Kazuhiko.
This first episode lays the foundations of the series’ post-apocalyptic universe and adapts chapter 1 of the manga. Kenshirō, heir to Hokuto Shinken, makes his first on-screen appearance since the original anime ended in 1988.
Official Synopsis
In the year 199X, nuclear fire engulfed the world and humanity seemed doomed to extinction. Yet people survived and now tear each other apart over what little water and food remains. In this era ruled by violence, a man trudges through the desert, barely breathing. Searching for water, he enters a village but is captured by the guards. When the village elder examines him, he discovers seven scars carved into his chest…
