Bat ). On the road south toward Southern Cross,
Kenshiro and his companions reach an oasis at the foot of a volcano, where the villagers mistake them for raiders. It is Doctor Duran who clears up the misunderstanding. Duran lives among them and has earned their trust, but he is in reality a deserter from Dante's detachment, under KING's orders, and serves the village to atone for his past as a raider. Dante tracks him down and forces him to assassinate Kenshiro in exchange for the villagers' lives.
