6View all imagesSouten no Ken Regenesis is the direct sequel to the Souten no Ken manga, serialized in the monthly Comic Zenon from 2017 to 2025 and collected in six volumes, published from 2018 to 2025. The story is written by Hiroyuki Yatsu and the art is by Hideki Tsuji, under the supervision of Buronson and based on the original work by Tetsuo Hara.
A few years after the turmoil in the Shanghai of secret societies, in 193X, the world is on the brink of World War II. Kasumi Kenshiro, sixty-second successor of Hokuto Shinken, is once again swept up in the whirlwind of history. Guided by the destiny of Hokuto, he arrives in the Dutch East Indies, present-day Indonesia, accompanied by Erika and Yasaka. There, a fight to the death erupts over "the list of hope," a treasure coveted by new powers, pitting Hokuto Shinken against the rival school of Tento Seiinken.
The original manga Souten no Ken had concluded in 2010. Regenesis continues the story of Kasumi Kenshiro beyond the Shanghai arc covered by that first series and by its 2006 animated adaptation, shifting the plot to the Dutch East Indies. The script is entrusted to Hiroyuki Yatsu, a renowned screenwriter of hit Japanese television series such as Hanzawa Naoki and Shitamachi Rocket, while Buronson, the longstanding co-scriptwriter of the Hokuto saga, serves as supervisor.
The artwork for Regenesis is entrusted to Hideki Tsuji, who served as Tetsuo Hara's assistant, notably on Ikusa no Ko, for several years. Recognized by the master as worthy of being entrusted with his work, Tsuji makes Regenesis his first series as lead artist. He brings to it the powerful linework and spectacular staging inherited from Hara, to the point that the series' graphic style faithfully extends the aesthetic of the master's works. This passing of the torch, from a legendary mangaka to his former assistant, stands as one of the distinctive features of Regenesis within the Hokuto saga.
The manga's publication experienced a long interruption. After a fourth volume released in February 2020, the series remained on hiatus for over five years before resuming with a fifth volume in July 2025, then concluding with the sixth in November 2025. Upon resumption, the work relied on a tighter team, joined by Kazuo Watanabe, a veteran background artist from the original Hokuto no Ken.

Souten no Ken Regenesis was serialized in the monthly Comic Zenon magazine published by Coamix, starting in 2017, for a total of twenty-nine chapters. The series was compiled into six volumes in the Zenon Comics collection, with the first released on March 20, 2018. The publication experienced a long hiatus of more than five years between the fourth volume, released in February 2020, and the fifth, released in July 2025, before concluding with the sixth volume on November 20, 2025. To date, the work has not been released in a French edition. The rights are managed by Coamix.
