Colonel (カーネル) is the leader of the Golan organization in Hokuto no Ken. A former commander of the Red Berets before the nuclear war, he becomes after the apocalypse the leader of a fanatical military group convinced they have been chosen by God to rebuild the world. A master of Nanto Muon Ken ("Silent Fist of the South"), he is among the first true adversaries capable of giving Kenshiro a hard time thanks to his analytical abilities and his silent techniques.
Before the destruction of the world, Colonel served as an officer within the Red Berets. Loyal to his country and deeply committed to military values, he ultimately lost faith in his superiors after discovering their corruption and their disregard for the consequences of nuclear war.
When the apocalypse ravages the planet, Colonel and the survivors of his unit interpret their survival as a divine sign. Convinced that only the strongest and most disciplined deserve to rebuild civilization, he then founds the Golan organization in order to impose his own vision of the new world order.
Under the authority of Colonel, Golan kidnaps numerous survivors in order to build a military community called Godland. The members of the organization live under extremely strict discipline and eliminate all those who refuse to submit to their rules.
Colonel justifies his actions by claiming he wants to avoid the mistakes that led the old world to its downfall. Behind this idealistic rhetoric, however, lies a brutal regime founded on fear, indoctrination, and violence.
Kenshiro finally confronts Colonel. Unlike many previous enemies, the latter does not rely solely on brute force. Thanks to Nanto Muon Ken and his ability to analyze his opponents' movements, he manages to anticipate several of Kenshiro's attacks and uses razor-sharp boomerangs as well as various guerrilla techniques. Despite these abilities, Kenshiro finally understands how his strange perception works and manages to neutralize his sight before finishing him off with the Hokuto Kaikotsu Ken, a technique that projects the skeleton out of the body. Colonel's death brings about the definitive fall of Golan and the liberation of Godland's prisoners.
