Souten no Ken, Volume 20

Already the twentieth volume of Ken, Fist of the Blue Sky. This series will have filled eight years of my life, and as the story approaches its conclusion, I felt like revisiting Shanghai and Hong Kong once more. Last year, in November 2008, I set off again on a journey across the sea. I asked the guide who had already accompanied me twice on my location scouting trips to Shanghai, at the very beginning of the series, to come with me a third time, which allowed me to discover some rare places. I was particularly struck by the City God Temple (Chenghuangmiao) located in the heart of Yu Garden (Yu yuan). There were galleries dedicated to the gods of the sexagenary cycle of birth years (the Chinese zodiac signs, DdT), and for each sign, you can see at least five deities. And you'll never guess: the deity of my birth year was holding in its hand... a pencil!
I was very surprised, and I saw it as a sign of destiny, which gave us all a good laugh. When I think back on it, I really have fond memories of that trip.
