Souten no Ken, Volume 5

As a Sino-Japanese war loomed on the horizon, events that are unimaginable today were taking place in the Shanghai of 1935. It was probably an era somewhat like ours in the sense that it "smelled of war." During the time of Hokuto No Ken, I was able to draw scenes of extreme violence. In today's world, the situation has deteriorated so much that I now find it very difficult to draw gory massacre scenes. However, while drawing an entertainment manga, I try to convey the essence of that era.
