A wonderful encounter at the Toyosu PIT in Tokyo: Tetsuo Hara was invited to the concert of American bassist Thundercat as part of his 2026 Japan tour. On this occasion, the mangaka personally presented a signed shikishi to the musician, who has been an absolute fan of Hokuto no Ken for years.

The news was shared on the official account @haratetsuo_jp with a simple message and photo: “Invited by Thundercat to his ThundercatJapanTour2026, I had the opportunity to present him with a shikishi.”
A shikishi, for the uninitiated, is a traditional Japanese square of paper used by artists to create official dedications or original drawings given as gifts. Receiving a shikishi personally drawn by Tetsuo Hara is a considerable honor in Japanese artistic culture, generally reserved for important moments or for individuals the mangaka particularly wishes to honor.
Thundercat, a long-time fan
To understand the significance of this moment, it is worth noting that Thundercat (real name Stephen Bruner), virtuoso bassist and singer with multiple Grammy Awards, is known for his open love of Japanese pop culture. The Japanese music press regularly presents him as a fan of Hokuto no Ken and Dragon Ball.

- His famous 6-string Ibanez bass features an Asuka (Neon Genesis Evangelion) painting on the body
- He regularly wears Hokuto no Ken T-shirts in his music videos and public appearances
