Here is a rather unexpected collaboration: KURE 5-56, the famous Japanese multi-purpose penetrating lubricant, teams up with Hokuto no Ken for an advertising campaign with a clever concept, themed “The Savior of the Rusty Era” (サビついた時代の救世主).
“The Savior of the Rusty Era”
The wordplay is at the heart of the campaign: where Kenshiro is “the Savior” (救世主) of the post-apocalyptic world, KURE 5-56 presents itself as the savior against rust (サビ). The “rusty era” thus evokes both the devastated world of the franchise and the seized-up mechanisms the product promises to free. A clever connection between the end-of-the-world universe of Hokuto no Ken and the product’s promise.
The campaign is built around a new TV commercial titled “The Door That Won’t Open” (開かない扉), which you can watch below:
A song by Rockon Social Club
The campaign comes with a musical track, “Love Survivor,” performed by the rock band Rockon Social Club. Made up of former members of the group Otokogumi (Narita Shōji, Takahashi Kazuya, Okamoto Ken’ichi, Maeda Kōyō) joined by Teraoka Yohito and Aoyama Hideki, the band delivers a rock track whose love-themed title is reminiscent of the spirit of the franchise’s legendary opening theme “Ai wo Torimodose!!”
This collaboration accompanies the airing of the anime Hokuto no Ken – Fist of the North Star 2026, available every Friday on Prime Video. It once again illustrates the cultural reach of the franchise in Japan, capable of appealing even to brands furthest removed from its universe.
