The Sun Road shopping arcade in Kichijoji has chosen the illustration from the new Hokuto no Ken anime adaptation to adorn its big 2026 summer lottery.
A summer lottery in the colors of Hokuto no Ken
Every year, the Sun Road Kichijoji merchants’ association holds its “Summer Scratch Sale,” a scratch card lottery. For the 2026 edition, the visual from the anime, featuring Kenshiro and several iconic figures from the series, was selected as the main illustration. Enough to see the characters from the work of Buronson and Tetsuo Hara take over the arcade all summer long.
The concept is simple: for every 1,000 yen purchase at participating shops, customers receive a scratch card offering an instant prize. In total, 80,000 cards are up for grabs (while supplies last), for a total prize pool of 8 million yen in store vouchers. Prizes range from 100 to 10,000 yen in vouchers, and a “lucky prize” offers a chance to win 100 original t-shirts featuring Hokuto no Ken.
Card distribution runs from July 29 to August 13, 2026, with winnings redeemable through August 16. A purely local event, reserved for visitors of the Kichijoji arcade, but one that once again demonstrates the omnipresence of Hokuto no Ken across the Japanese landscape since the new anime began airing.
