The official website hokuto-anime.com revealed today three new voices joining the cast of the Hokuto no Ken – Fist of the North Star 2026 anime for upcoming episodes: Ishihara Kaori as Taki, Sadaoka Sayuri as Toyo, and Matsuyama Takashi as the fearsome Jackal. Three official commentaries accompany the announcement, translated below.
Taki, the Messenger from the Homeland – Ishihara Kaori
Taki is a young orphan who lived in the same village as Bat, under the protection of Toyo. Facing the water shortage plaguing the village, he embarked alone on a dangerous journey across the desert to find help. His encounter with Kenshiro is the catalyst for the entire arc that unfolds.
The role is performed by Ishihara Kaori, a well-known voice actress recognized for her roles in Kaguya-sama, Princess Connect! Re:Dive, and Boruto.

On the project: A work with a rich history, loved across generations. It is a tremendous honor to be part of such a monumental franchise as Hokuto no Ken. The Taki I portray is a brave and tender-hearted boy, but also a child who meets a tragic end. Many people already have a certain image of his voice in mind, and the recording sessions were quite intimidating for me. However, I did my very best to convey everything Taki wanted to express, and I sincerely hope you will enjoy watching him on screen.
Favorite line: Without hesitation, “Omae wa mou shindeiru.” Even as a child, without understanding the meaning of the words, I used to have fun imitating that line. A phrase of unmatched power that never loses its impact.
Favorite character: I really like Kenshiro. His ability to transform even sadness into strength, and his deep kindness, are truly admirable.
First encounter with Hokuto no Ken: I have known Hokuto no Ken since childhood, without even knowing exactly how. A commercial, an anime, a video game, I couldn’t say, but it is a work that has always felt like a national classic to me.
What it takes to survive in the post-apocalyptic era: A heart that never gives up. Surviving is the hardest thing there is, so giving up too quickly would be fatal. Even in the most painful situations, you must keep searching for solutions.
Toyo, the Mother Figure of Bat – Sadaoka Sayuri
Toyo is the old woman who raised Bat. Having stayed in the village after the other adults disappeared, she takes care of the orphaned children alone, even giving up her own water ration for them. She is a heartbreaking maternal figure from the beginning of Hokuto no Ken, and one of the most impactful deaths in the manga.
The role is performed by Sadaoka Sayuri, whose voice carries all the tenderness and fragility of the character.

On the project: In a merciless world ruled by the law of the strongest, this frail elderly woman sacrifices herself for orphaned children even more vulnerable than she is. What a noble and touching figure. I am very grateful to have been able to cross paths with Toyo, a character overflowing with love.
Favorite line: The “Kaa-san” (Mom) spoken by Bat.
Favorite character: Kenshiro.
First encounter with Hokuto no Ken: When my nephew was little, he was passionate about Hokuto no Ken. It was while watching it with him that I discovered the series for the first time.
What it takes to survive in the post-apocalyptic era: A serene mind in the face of any hardship, and eyes turned toward the weakest.
Jackal, the Cynical Antagonist of the Arc – Matsuyama Takashi
Jackal is the leader of a gang of motorized raiders, a former inmate of the underground prison of Pirenii. His motto, “Never fight a man stronger than yourself,” perfectly sums up his strategy: cunning, manipulation, cowardice, and sacrificing his own men. He represents a type of antagonist that Kenshiro had not yet faced in the series, and his arc culminates with the introduction of the titanic Devil Rebirth.
The role is performed by Matsuyama Takashi, who also delivers a commentary full of delightful self-deprecating humor.

About the project: A textbook coward, practically drawn with a ruler. A scoundrel without the slightest nuance, a true masterpiece. It is I, Matsuyama Takashi, who will have the honor of portraying the incomparable Jackal. This character is perfect for highlighting Kenshiro’s nobility, and I’m already wondering how to approach him, not with excitement and nervousness, but with a little smirk and a mouth watering with anticipation. I commit body and soul to delivering the most repulsive Jackal you will never want to see again.
His favorite line: “How many times do I have to tell you… to live a long life, you must never fight a man stronger than yourself…” This is the ultimate state of enlightenment.
His favorite character: Jackal! Obviously.
His encounter with Hokuto no Ken: DD Hokuto no Ken and Hokuto no Ken Ichigo Aji. Work, basically.

An Iconic Manga Arc Faithfully Adapted
Ishihara Kaori’s comment, which mentions Taki’s “tragic end,” suggests that the new adaptation will follow the original manga version, in which Taki dies from a crossbow bolt fired by the guardian of a nearby water source, rather than the 1984 adaptation which had him survive.
The Jackal arc begins with episode 8, “The Messenger from the Homeland”, airing on Friday, May 15, 2026 on Prime Video.
