“You are already dead…” now echoes through South Town! Since June 28, 2026, following the Grand Finals of EVO, Kenshiro has officially joined the roster of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. The successor of Hokuto Shinken is the sixth and final character of SNK’s fighting game Season Pass 2. Here’s a full rundown of this highly anticipated arrival, complete with trailers and gameplay.
Kenshiro arrives in South Town
Announced back in March 2026 at AnimeJapan, the crossover between Kenshiro and the Fatal Fury universe has finally come to fruition. The legendary warrior who survived the end of the century leaves his desolate wastelands to land in South Town, the game’s setting. True to himself, Kenshiro extends a hand to the weak and mercilessly punishes those who oppress them.
The character is voiced by Clayton Alexander in English and by Takeuchi Shunsuke in Japanese, the latter reprising the role he already holds in the 2026 anime. Here is the reveal trailer:
A message from Tetsuo Hara
To accompany this release, Hokuto no Ken creator Tetsuo Hara delivered a special video message, broadcast just before the EVO Grand Finals. The manga artist shared: “The time has come for Kenshiro to leave the post-apocalyptic world behind and take a trip to South Town.” He added that, regardless of the era, the determination to stay true to one’s convictions is something that will always continue to inspire. Hara concluded by hoping that players, longtime fans and newcomers alike, will enjoy this version of Kenshiro unique to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
A technical fighting style built on Hokuto Shinken
On the gameplay front, SNK describes Kenshiro as a “highly technical” character. He is a close-range fighter, equipped with fast and powerful strikes whose techniques are based on Hokuto Shinken: by striking his opponents’ secret pressure points, he deals internal damage. His agility opens up numerous combo possibilities, both on the ground and in the air. All of this is crowned, of course, by his legendary Hokuto Hyakuretsuken.
The gameplay trailer, along with several match videos published by the developers (pitting Kenshiro against various fighters on the roster), offer a closer look at his in-game style:
Two modes to play as the Savior
Kenshiro is playable in two solo modes. In Arcade mode, he awakens in South Town, a modern metropolis worlds apart from his devastated homeland, and enters the King of Fighters tournament alongside heroes like Terry, Hokutomaru, and Hotaru, with one objective: to face Wolfgang Krauser, who rules the city as a tyrant.
In the Episodes of South Town mode (the game’s solo RPG mode), Kenshiro wakes up in the city, crosses paths with Terry, Mai, and other fighters, then discovers that a mysterious miasma is corrupting the streets of South Town, drawing him into a new quest at the heart of the City of the Wolves.
Kenshiro in the spotlight at EVO 2026
Kenshiro was playable as an early preview at EVO 2026, the world’s largest fighting game tournament, held in Las Vegas from June 26 to 28. At the SNK booth, visitors could try him out during play sessions, and attendees even walked away with a collector sticker featuring his likeness. The developers also broadcast several demonstration matches to showcase the full range of his moveset. The character was ultimately made available on June 28, right after the tournament’s Grand Finals, a fitting showcase for the successor of Hokuto Shinken.
How to get Kenshiro
Kenshiro is included in the Season Pass 2 of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, alongside Kim Jae Hoon, Nightmare Geese, Blue Mary, Wolfgang Krauser, and Mr. Karate. The game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). To enjoy all the content, the Legend Edition ($1.99) bundles the base game, Season Pass 1, and Season Pass 2, granting access to Kenshiro.
Worth noting going forward: Kenshiro’s release closes out Season Pass 2, and Season 3 of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is set to begin in July 2026. An animated teaser produced by Masami Ōbari hints that Lord Laocorn Gaudeamus, from the film Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture, will be among the first characters of this new season.
